Bruges evening  snow walk

2010

T.S. Eliot’s magnificent poem very often accompanies me jogging or walking around Bruges. My sisters Marianne & Trees bought ‘The complete poems and plays’ of the Noble Prize winner for me in Aylesbury in July 1974, and I always thought that if ever I could keep only one book of my library with me, it would be this one. So...

“Let us go then, you and I,

When the evening is spread out against the sky

Like a patient etherised upon a table;

Let us go, throught certain half deserted streets,.......”
